Ron’s 32 Ford

Ron Wilhite of Copperopolis experienced a car enthusiast's worst nightmare eleven years ago.  His garage housing his 32 Ford Pickup, 27 Ford Roadster and 29 Ford Pickup, all in pristine condition, burned to the ground.  The cause was never determined but all three vehicles were a total loss.  Fortunately, Ron had a good classic car insurance policy and wasted no time looking for a ride to replace those that were lost in the fire.  Within six months he found the perfect vehicle, ironically owned by his best friend Jack Jameson of Lake Havasu.  The car was a completed project based on a Rat's Glass stretched fiberglass 32 Ford body.  The body was lengthened 3" as well as the doors providing Ron with easy access in and out of the car.  The overall fiberglass body however sits on a stock 32 Fordwheel base.  A deal was struck and the car was brought up to Copperopolis.

Ron has completed a number of hot rod projects cradle to grave but wanted a turn key ride that he could drive and enjoy from day one.  This car fit the bill and has been driven extensively on some amazing road trips including two to Canada, several Hot August Nites trips, Pamona four times, and repeated trips to Lake Havasu to visit his long time friend Jack Jameson.  According to Ron, the car is "perfect as is" and he has no changes planned for this black beauty.  The drivetrain is not overly aggressive with a warmed up Chevy 350 backed by a Turbo Hydramatic 350 automatic transmission.  Ron wanted a reliable driver with style and this drivetrain fits the bill.  Braking is accomplished with Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners.  A 9" Ford rear end was selected to balance out the drivetrain.  A 4" drop was achieved with the front suspension to provide the desired rake and the rear suspension uses a coil-over setup.  The ride is firm yet comfortable making it perfect for Ron's intended use of the car.  The 32 features 33/34 commercial headlights completing the package.

Look for Ron at shows in Copperopolis and on the roads of Calaveras County.  If history is any indicator, you may even see this stylish 32 Ford anywhere between Canada, Southern Cal and Nevada!  Ron truly lives up to the mantra, get out and drive em!
